AFTER THE NEWBORN BABY HAD PEED IN GREEN, DOCTORS HAD FOUND A CONDITION ON THE NEWBORN

Vickie and Alex Thompson were joyful with the born of their baby boy, Charlie.

But after his birth, while the newborn baby had never pooped, his pee was green. And after 36-year-old mother had spoke with the doctors, they had realized that the baby was born without an anal opening, whis the condition is named as, Analatresia.

“I was absolutely petrified… I thought he was dying,” Vickie said.

“The doctors said, ‘We don’t think he has an opening.’ I was so scared,”

On the following day, Charlie was transferred to Brighton Hospital, from Worthington Hospital, for the operation, where he waited three days in the NICU.

“I was terrified that I would lose him. They had to put him on a ventilator and I kept thinking he was going to die. I kept thinking the worst.” The worried mother had said.

After six surgeries, little Charlie was ready to go back home, but mother had some problems now, since she needed to dealt with stoma.

“Being a first-time mum is an experience anyway, so having the stoma as well was hard. It was very, very stressful, and at times felt quite lonely because people were scared to deal with the stoma, so I had to do it all,” Vickie said about the situation.

“Friends and family were scared to change his stoma in case they did it wrong and caused an infection. They couldn’t handle the risk. It has certainly been tough going,”

“Charlie became very poorly and couldn’t eat for 11 days. He was very vulnerable and malnourished,”

“The liquid coming out of the ileostomy was six times the amount that was going into his body, so he was on fluid drips with vitamins,” she continued.

After four more surgeries, now the doctors are waiting for the baby to poop. It will not happen too, and little Charlie might be live with stoma, for the rest of his life.

“The key thing [for me] is spreading awareness and teaching mothers how to check their babies,” mother said.
